DUI checkpoints set for New Year’s Eve
Two sobriety checkpoints are scheduled to occur in Wilmington and Newport on Friday, Dec. 31st. New Year’s Eve is a big night for impaired driving, according to state and local law enforcement officers.
Last year 19 people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs on New Year’s Eve.
There will also be 60 additional DUI patrols throughout the night by state, county and city police agencies.
The Office of Highway Safety encourages motorists to minimize distractions in their vehicles, buckle up, and slow down.
