Devil’s Pool closed to prevent swimmers from leaving a mess

We were excited last week to see Devil’s Pool make the pages of the New York Times, but we did wonder why there was so much trash in the area, despite efforts by the Friends of Wissahickon to clean up the area.

Police have noticed the trash, too, and they say diving into Devil’s Pool has been off-limits for the past few weeks because swimmers were leaving so much trash behind.

And they mean business. Aaron Moselle snapped a photo Sunday of an officer standing by as dozens of people try to resist the temptation to dive in.
