Delaware woman accused of abusing baby corpse

State Police discover the body of a one year old in a container at a Dover home.

Acting on a tip that a Dover woman’s child was missing, investigators conducted a search at 33-year-old Karen Hooks’ home.  Inside, they found “a suspiciously wrapped package” in a storage area.  The package contained what appeared to be human remains.  The Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that the remains were of a male child at least one year old.

Hooks was arrested on a charge of abusing a corpse.  She’s being held on $1,000 cash bail.  Police say the investigation is still underway into how the child died.  More charges may be possible depending on the results of that investigation.
