Delaware teacher arrested in connection with nude pictures

A substitute teacher in Delaware is in trouble after allegedly letting a student see naked pictures of herself she had stored on her cell phone.

Delaware State Police have arrested substitute teacher Meagan Gordon of Bridgeville on a charge of providing obscene material to a minor.

The arrest followed a four-month investigation by State Police detectives. Authorities could not go into too much detail about the nature of the photographs.

“I can only say that it was her being depicted in different states of undress,” said Delaware State Police Master Cpl. Jeffrey Hale.

Police say the 15-year-old student got Gordon’s cell phone in May. Police say the male student then took the phone into a bathroom at Sussex Technical High School in Georgetown and browsed through nude pictures of the 22-year-old Gordon that were stored on the phone.

The boy later gave the phone back to Gordon, but police say following a class, Gordon let him see the pictures again and exchanged phone numbers with him.

“It’s kind of scary that you have a person in the position of authority in a classroom who’s supposed to be teaching a child and she’s in there allowing this kind of thing to go on,” Hale said. “That’s what’s really disturbing to me.”

The teen’s mother told police the two had been texting, and that she believed her son had viewed several inappropriate pictures of the teacher.

“I think they (detectives) counted 26 different texts back and forth between the student and the teacher,” Hale said.

Gordon was arraigned at the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas and released on $1,500 bail.
