Delaware State Trooper shot in line of duty

A Delaware State Trooper who was shot in the arm near East 24th and North Market Streets in Wilmington this afternoon is “doing well at this time.”

Sgt. Paul Shavack says the 44-year-old male trooper was shot around 4 p.m. and rushed to Christiana Hospital for the non-life threatening injury. Shavack says it’s too early to talk about the circumstances that led to the shooting, but an investigation is underway.

State Police, along with other police agencies, are on a manhunt now searching for the suspect.

Police are asking people to avoid the area as the investigation continues.
