Delaware State Police identify trooper shot in the face

A Delaware state trooper is hospitalized and a Magnolia man is dead after the two exchanged gunfire following a domestic strangulation incident in Kent County.
Authorities said troopers were called to a Magnolia residence about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday regarding a domestic incident between a woman and her boyfriend.
 
A trooper spotted the 29-year-old suspect in the area around 7 a.m. Police say that after a brief vehicle pursuit, the suspect got out of his car and traded shots with the 26-year-trooper. The suspect was pronounced dead at Kent General Hospital in Dover at 8:47 a.m.
 
The trooper, 26-year-old Cpl. Lloyd M. McCann, was shot in the face and hand. The four-year veteran of the police force was flown to Christiana Hospital in Newark, where he was listed in stable condition.
