The Delaware Senate unanimously confirmed David Small to serve as Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.

Governor Jack Markell tapped the deputy secretary for the top job last month. Small will succeed Secretary Collin O’Mara who submitted his resignation in May to head up the National Wildlife Federation starting in July.

“David’s career has been marked by an unwavering commitment to making Delaware safer, cleaner and healthier,” Markell said following Wednesday’s confirmation. “I’m thrilled he will continue his service as our secretary.”

Small will be sworn in following O’Mara’s departure next month.
