Delaware River Port Authority DUI crackdown begins Friday

Starting Friday, the Delaware River Port Authority and state and local police in New Jersey are teaming up to crack down on drunken driving.

The “Over The Limit, Under Arrest” campaign runs through Sept. 5.

Special signs will be up on all four DRPA bridges to reminder drivers and complement the posters, banners and mobile video display that are part of the national initiative.

The campaign launched in 1999, and was last conducted in our area between Dec. 6, 2010 and Jan. 2, 2011. While police made nine DUI arrests during that time, they also nabbed a fugitive, speeders and other reckless drivers.
