Delaware launches effort to improve autism services
State officials are officially launching an effort to improve treatment and support services for Delawareans with autism.
Legislation being signed this week by Gov. Jack Markell establishes an Interagency Committee on Autism and the Delaware Network for Excellence in Autism.
The interagency committee is charged with using evidence-based practices and programs to improve outcomes for people living with autism spectrum disorders and related developmental disabilities by sharing information with public and private agencies providing services and supports for individuals and families affected by autism.
The committee, with technical support from the Network for Excellence, also will work to implement recommendations outlined in a 2013 strategic plan to improve services to those with autism.
