Delaware Day declaration

On this Delaware Day, Governor Markell will honor Carol Hoffecker for contribution to the study and teach of the state’s history.

In a ceremony that will double as the official proclamation of Delaware Day, Markell will also present the 2011 Governor’s Heritage Award to University of Delaware Professor Emerita, Dr. Carol Hoffecker.  The award goes to an individual who has “made a distinguished contribution to the recognition, preservation and celebration of Delaware’s heritage.”  Hoffecker has written numerous books and articles on the state.  She’s also penned two volumes on the history of Wilmington.  This morning’s event will be held at the Public Archives in Dover.
