Delaware County mosquito sprays begin after pools test positive for West Nile

Delaware County begins its mosquito control tonight, and just in time. Tests of mosquito pools in Ridley, Darby, Brookhaven and Glenolden tested positive for West Nile Virus.

Spraying begins tonight at 8:30, weather permitting, but residents should do their part to prevent being bitten. Media Patch has a list of recommendations from Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection on how to protect your property(and yourself) from mosquitoes.

Those who live near the pools that tested positive are at higher risk for West Nile, but not everyone who comes in contact with the virus will get sick. People over 50 are most at risk.
