SKATE: College Night at Waterfront Winterfest

Monday, December 16, 5pm-12:30am. RiverRink at Penn’s Landing, Market Street at Delaware River. Campus Philly has teamed up with Delaware River Waterfront Corporation to offer free admission to Waterfront Winterfest during four skate sessions: 5-6:30pm, 7-8:30pm, 9-10:30pm, and 11pm-12:30am. Enjoy a free skate and take in the holiday light show, fire pits, and the Lodge pop-up restaurant. All you need is a valid student ID.

Wednesday, December 18, 6-8:45pm. Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Get into the Christmas spirit with a leg lamp and Ralphie’s dreams of a BB gun. Free with museum admission.

STROLL: Stag and Doe shopping

Wednesday, December 18, until 9pm. Germantown Avenue, Chestnut Hill. Support Chestnut Hill’s independent shops and get out of the holiday shopping mall rut. Caroling, Santa, and a choir from University of Chicago at Chestnut Hill Presbyterian round out the night. Free.

EXPLORE: Coltrane’s Philadelphia

Wednesday, December 18, 7-8:45pm. Free Library, Parkway Central, 1901 Vine Street. Check out the new documentary film, Coltrane’s Philadelphia, to explore the city’s bursting jazz scene in teh 1940s and 1950s, which the film argues was key to John Coltrane’s development as a jazz musician. After the screening, the Philadelphia Jazz Project will give a live performance and filmmakers Rob Armstrong and Tom Moon will join Temple’s Dr. Diane Turner for a brief Q&A. Free.
