Corbett signs 46 measures into Pennsylvania law
Tom Corbett’s been a busy guy. The Pennsylvania governor has signed 46 measures into state law from ordinances that originated in both the House and the Senate.
Some are just formalities that affect small communities, like House Bill 589:
The bill designates U.S. Route 1 in Bucks County from mile marker 66.8 to mile marker 80.2 as the Detective Christopher Jones Memorial Highway.”
Others will have a broader impact, like SB 260, which amends the Confidentiality of HIV-Related Information Act. The bill that makes HIV testing a routine part of general medical care also requires face-to-face counseling be available to patients receiving positive test results.
Teenagers will appreciate SB 448, which grants immunity to underage drinkers who are found out only because they’re seeking medical attention. Of course, the law requires they be cooperative.
Overall, 20 Senate bills and 26 House bills were signed into law.
