Christie signs ‘Clarence Clemons Day’ declaration

The “Big Man” has his own day.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has signed a resolution declaring Jan. 11 Clarence Clemons Day. That’s the day Clemons was born.

Clemons was an original member of Bruce Springsteen’s Jersey-based E Street Band, known for his saxophone solos and huge stage presence. He was immortalized in the song “Tenth Avenue Freeze Out” with the lyric “the change was made uptown and the Big Man joined the band.”

Clemons died in 2011 from complications of a stroke at age 69.

Christie has been to 130-plus Springsteen concerts.

Monmouth County Sen. Jennifer Beck proposed the resolution.
