Chickie’s & Pete’s sues Maryland restaurant over crab fries trademark

Sensible or not, Chickie’s & Pete’s in 2007 trademarked the “Crab Fries” name. It’s probably not something restaurants in say, Maryland, are aware of when they cook up their old bay-seasoned fries, but they’ll soon find out.

Like J & P Pizza in Westminster, which is being sued by C&P owner Pete Ciarrocchi for calling its dish “Maryland Crab Fries.” The Inquirer‘s Michael Klein reports the suit was filed yesterday in regards to a circa 2007 online menu for one of the restaurant’s eight locations. Commenters are getting a kick out of the whole thing.
