Cherry Hill’s 4th of July fireworks show snuffed out

South Jersey’s largest suburb has canceled its Fourth of July fireworks display, saying it had become too popular to maintain safety.

Cherry Hill spokeswoman Bridget Palmer tells the Courier-Post that the field at Cherry Hill High School West cannot hold the growing crowd.

Safety became a concern two years ago when a fight broke out during the display.

The show has been funded by corporate sponsors in recent years. Officials say the donations will go to other summertime festivities instead.

Another big fireworks display in the area has been scrapped in recent years after the Camden County government has stopped its show at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken.
