Changes proposed for Delaware River’s Festival Pier

There’s not a lot of greenery right now on Festival Pier, and current revitalization plans from the Delaware Waterfront Corporation call for hardscaping.

But new ideas have emerged that could change the vision for the pier and better connect it with the Delaware River.

NewsWorks partner PlanPhilly reports the DWRC is now considering adding a linear park to the pier at Spring Garden Street and Columbus Boulevard, while still incorporating plans for mixed-use development.

It’s the largest change suggested to the DWRC, which has been working in phases to revamp the waterfront and improve pedestrian access.
