Center City sites face uncertain future after South Philly casino decision
The future of two valuable properties in Philadelphia is unclear after they weren’t selected for a casino license.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Saturday that developers didn’t have alternative plans for the proposed casino sites at Eighth and Market and the newspaper’s former building at Broad and Callowhill.
State regulators awarded the license this week for a casino near the sports arenas in South Philadelphia.
The paper says there will be viable options in what is currently a hot market for downtown real estate, with retailers scouting sites and younger people and baby boomers moving into new apartments and condos.
