Celebrating 100 years of conservation

Governor Markell will mark 100 years of protecting the environment by what was originally called the Delaware Game and Fish Commission.

Governor Simeon S. Pennewill appointed the first Game and Fish Commission in 1911 in an effort to protect fish and wildlife in the state.  Markell will gather with other state leaders and environmental groups to commemorate that founding at the Russell W. Peterson Urban Wildlife Refuge’s DuPont Environmental Education Center in Wilmington.
