Candidates in N.J. House race air disputes

The candidates in New Jersey’s contentious and close 3rd Congressional District race are continuing to attack each other’s character.

Democrat Aimee Belgard and Republican Tom MacArthur met Friday for a joint interview on NJTV. It was their first joint appearance.

It is scheduled to air at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday.

During the appearance, MacArthur asked Belgard to disavow ads the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee ran attacking him and then pulled after complaints that they were inaccurate.

She said she did not have anything to do with the commercials but did not say they were wrong.

Meanwhile, MacArthur went after Belgard, saying she is a “tool” of the Democratic Party, something she disputed.
