UPDATE -Burglars hit two Manayunk businesses in early Monday break-ins

Burglars have again descended upon Manayunk and Roxborough businesses, and the Philadelphia Police Department is seeking the public’s help to identify the suspects.

In an update provided this afternoon by the PPD, two suspects are sought in connection with a pair of burglaries that occurred just a few minutes apart within in the boundaries of the Fifth Police District.

On March 18, 2013, at 4:04 a.m., two unknown males were captured on surveillance video gaining entry to the Wash and Dry Laundromat located on the 6100 block of Ridge Avenue.

After gaining entry by forcing open the rear door with a crowbar, the suspects broke into an office but were driven away by an audible alarm that activated before taking anything.

Both suspects fled through a back door in what police described as an “an unknown direction,” but it was one that took them downhill to a restaurant just off of Main St.

Moments later, at 4:11 a.m., the dynamic duo were again captured on surveillance video, this time casing The Couch Tomato Bistro located at 100 block of Rector Street.

Several minutes later the same males pulled up in a late model custom conversion van – possibly a Dodge. The suspects then exited the van and entered the business through the rear door.

Once inside, the suspects broke into the cash registers taking the money contained within. The suspects then used a shopping cart from the business to carry out the safe.

After taking an undetermined amount of cash, both suspects fled the area in an unknown direction on Main Street at approximately 4:50am.

The first suspect is described as a stocky white male, aged 30 to 40, wearing a blue baseball cap, blue and gray zip up jacket, blue jeans and black and white sneakers. This suspect also has an unknown tattoo on the back of his neck just at the hair line.

The second suspect is described as a thin white male, 20 years of age, unshaven with goatee, blue baseball cap, blue zip up hooded jacket, dark pants and black sneakers. This suspect also walks with a hitch in his step.
