Burglar swipes TV from Germantown home, tries to sell it on same block [video]

The goods were so hot that he tried to unload them within a block of where he stole them.

On Thursday, Philadelphia Police released video of an unknown man allegedly responsible for one burglary and a foiled attempt three days earlier in East Germantown.

According to police, a resident of the 5800 block of Magnolia St. reported that a man wearing a camoflage hat and green jacket tried to break into his house through a kitchen window around 5 p.m., but fled when confronted.

Two hours later, the same man allegedly broke into a nearby home on the 300 block of E. Chelten Ave. and took off with a 37-inch Westinghouse TV.

A man matching both descriptions then went to a variety store on that block trying to sell a television.

Video released by police was taken of the suspect at that point.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 30s with a thin mustache. Police said he was wearing a camoflage baseball cap, red-hoodie with the words “Never Stop Explorin'” in white letters, blue jeans and work boots at the time.

Police ask anyone with information about the case, or suspect, to call Northwest Detective Division at (215) 686-3353/54 or the tipsline at (215) 686-TIPS, text a tip to PPD TIP (773847) or send it in via the department’s website.
