A New fiscal year starts for Del., N.J. and Pa.

The new fiscal year has begun in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware: In Pennsylvania, Governor Corbett approved the budget shortly before midnight. The budget signing follows a dizzying week of lawmaking and deal cutting by the GOP majorities in the House and Senate. In New Jersey, Governor Chris Christie has  slashed $900 million worth of spending out of the multi-billion-dollar budget submitted to him by the Democratic-controlled Legislature. The line-item veto of the spending plan Christie announced yesterday averts a potential shutdown of nonessential government services.

Also, Delaware Governor Jack Markell has signed a new state budget. It includes $664-million for road and construction projects and other infrastructure needs.
