UPDATE: Police ID body found under bridge

Wilmington Police say the body of a man found underneath the Washington Street Bridge has been identified as Pierre Johnson of Newark.

The body was discovered around 10:40 Sunday morning.  Police say the body of the 30-year-old man was submerged in the race, a channel of water adjacent to the Brandywine River.  The body had apparently been in the water for several days.  Investigators say there was no obvious sign of foul play, but they are still looking for witnesses who may have seen how the man ended up in the water.

Anyone with information can contact Detective Phil McLaughlin at 302-576-3667 or Detective Gary Tabor at 302-576-3661.  Tipsters may remain anonymous.  Information can also be submitted to Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, or online at tipsubmit.com.
