Mural Arts Program gifts an afro pick at Roots mural announcement

This morning’s mural announcement in Headhouse Square had all the right stuff: art, Black Thought (Tariq Trotter) and and a hair pick.

Peter Crimmins was at the event on Second Street where the Mural Arts Program announced a new project with the Roots. We’ll hear more details later about the artwork planned for South Street, but Peter leaves us with this tidbit for now: at the event, Roots member Black Thought accepted a hair pick on bandmate Questlove’s behalf, given to the rocker by the Mural Arts Program.

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story reported Black Thought gave Mayor Michael Nutter the pick.
