Bicycle Coalition petitions for better 30th Street Station bicycle parking

The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia has started an online petition to urge Amtrak to increase and improve bicycle parking at 30th Street Station.

This has been an ongoing point of interest for the Bicycle Coalition, which last month published photos of the crowded bike racks and the strange alternative fixes cyclists have come up with. In last fall’s Bike-to-Transit survey, 87 percent of respondents said they want more or better bicycle parking at transit stations throughout the region, and of all of the stations in the region, 30th Street Station received the most feedback.

The Bicycle Coalition is asking Amtrak to remedy the situation by…

  1. Adding more high quality bike racks to both sides of 30th Street Station
  2. Enforcing sidewalk and bike parking regulations
  3. Promptly removing abandoned bicycles

Now the Bicycle Coalition wants station users to sign the petition asking Amtrak to improve and maintain its 30th Street Station bicycle parking, specifically by implementing these remedies. The petition is available online now.
