This series, in honor of the national park service centennial offers a snapshot of what it’s like to work within the park system. We hear from park rangers, desk jockeys, curators, and others who help with interpretation, law enforcement, and conservation – the fundamentals of the region’s many valuable historic sites.
Beyond the Uniform: Eric Witzke Recounts Disasters and Indescribable Beauty
The National Park Service turns 100 in August.
In the lead up, we’re honoring the region’s national historic parks by bringing you audio postcards from some of the men and women who wear the uniform.
Today, meet Eric Witzke, a facility manager at Independence National Historic Park in Philadelphia.
He’s worked at many different parks, fighting fires and cleaning up after natural disasters. The photos in his office tell these stories and others.
