Al Sharpton urges Atlantic City residents to march

The Rev. Al Sharpton wants Atlantic City residents to march on Washington next month to protest Republican President-elect Donald Trump.

The Press of Atlantic City reports the civil-rights advocate and cable news host made the comments at a rally Sunday night.

Sharpton is on tour promoting the Jan. 14 march. He cited the state takeover of the city and Trump’s business dealings in the resort as reasons why residents should march.

Sharpton says the city is a colony now because its elected officials were suspended and an “unelected czar” was installed to oversee its affairs.

He says the city should be an example of how the wealthy have benefited at the expense of workers.

Sharpton says the march is meant to give Democrats in Congress some “guts and backbone.”
