AAA Mid-Atlantic: New Jersey gas prices up 8 cents

Prices at the pump are continuing to go up in New Jersey.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular gas in the state on Friday was $2.32. That’s up 8 cents from last week.

Motorists were paying $1.98 last year. A 23-cents-per-gallon gas tax increase went into effect Nov. 1.

The national average gas price on Friday was $2.20, up 4 cents from last week. Motorists last year were paying $2.02.

AAA says the higher prices are likely due to OPEC’s announcement on Nov. 30 that it was cutting production.
