Here’s a photo sent to me by my cousin who lives and works in Shanghai, which conveys the extent of change experienced by Shanghai and China in recent years.  When we talk about China and our relations with that country, we should have some idea of what that country looks like.  Though as Philadelphians know, a changing skyline doesn’t tell the whole story.
