A night of Bingo in Fox Chase [slideshow]

It’s 7 p.m. on a Friday evening in Fox Chase and the budget is tight. If you’re looking for some inexpensive fun, try the Loudenslager American Legion Post at 7976 Oxford Ave. Why?

Well for two bucks, you get a chance to have a great evening of bingo at the post. The two bucks entitles you to a nine-card sheet (you can also get five sheets for ten bucks).

The canteen is open, selling inexpensive sandwiches, snacks and drinks. An average evening, according to the regulars, is a 12-sheet evening at $24.

Commander of the Loudenslager Post, Dr. Wallace Quinlan, said the evening draws most of its crowd from the neighborhood.

Liz McGovern came to the hall with her daughter Elisha and mother Betty. “We love to play bingo and feel right at home at the hall, they make us feel comfortable.”

Betty Hill said she comes to support the veterans, and Pat Pajak said, “It’s a nice place with small games and the people are very friendly.”

The event is run by The Sons of The American Legion and has been part of the community for about three years.

“The event has been very successful and has helped us with upgrading the hall with such things as refinishing the dance floor, carpets, emergency lighting and painting,” Quinlan said. “We get a great crowd of various age groups and everyone seems to enjoy themselves.”

So if you want to enjoy an evening out, that won’t cost you the shirt on your back, pick a Friday and stop by the Loudenslager Post.  You might just get to yell out BINGO.
