3 workers hurt in crash of Philly sanitation truck

Police say three workers were injured when a sanitation truck crashed and flipped on its side in Northeast Philadelphia.

The accident happened shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Juniata Park neighborhood when the truck swerved to avoid a compact car, police said. The truck flipped onto the driver’s side and then struck a traffic signal pole, a mailbox and the fence of a house.

A 39-year-old passenger from the truck was taken to Temple Medical Center in serious condition with forearm fractures and possible fractured ribs.

The 58-year-old driver and a 55-year-old passenger were listed in stable condition at the hospital.
