2nd District Officer pleads guilty to stealing from panhandler

A Philadelphia Police Officer associated with the 2nd District has pleaded guilty to stealing from a supposed panhandler.

Kevin Workman has been sentenced to three years’ probation for stealing from a woman he thought was a panhandler. She was actually an undercover police officer.

Workman was arrested for taking $350 from the woman, and must also repay money he stole from another couple. The officer is associated with the 2nd District, but shortly after his arrest in October, district Community Relations Officer Mark Mroz explained Workman had just been transferred to the district when he was arrested. Until then, he’d worked in North Philadelphia’s 22nd District.
