25 year old Wilmington mother killed during daytime shooting

A 25 year old mother was shot and killed near the corner of 7th and Washington Monday. Her 4 year daughter was wounded along with a 51 year old woman.

Wilmington police identified the dead woman as Latrice Blackshear. Newsworks content partner, NBC 10, reports that Blackshear’s boyfriend was arguing with another man.  Witnesses tell NBC 10 the woman was crossing the street when she was struck by a bullet in the upper torso.

Wilmington police said Blackshear was taken to Christiana Hospital where the 25 year old woman was pronounced dead.  

Blackshear’s 4 year old daughter was taken immediately by assisting officers to Wilmington Hospital. The 51 year old woman was driven separately in a private vehicle to Wilmington Hospital. Both were shot in the leg and remain in stable condition.

NBC 10 also reports there was a surveillance camera mounted at the street corner that either didn’t work or wasn’t being monitored.
