Ventnor welcomes beach replenishment, after a fashion

Project delays are usually a source of irritation or inconvenience. But at the start of beach season, one New Jersey shore town is happy about it, as the Army Corps of Engineers and their beach replenishment program approaches their area.

“We’re thrilled with it,” says Ventnor city commissioner Lance Landgraf. “It’ll keep our beaches open for the majority of the summer. They may hit our northern end by late August or early September, and that’s a schedule we can live with.”

Landgraf discussed the plans with WHYY’s Tom MacDonald. Listen to the conversation below.
