Update on voting rights

    Listen

Today, we’ll look at two cases involving voting rights. Will Pennsylvania voters be required to show a legal photo ID at the polls this November? Does this 16-month old Pennsylvania Voter ID law disenfranchise voters or is it a deterrent to election fraud? We’ll speak to Pennsylvania’s Department of State, RON RUMAN, and MICHAEL RUBIN, a co-lead trial council for the plaintiffs in the recent 12-day trial that wrapped last week. A Commonwealth Court judge has yet to rule on this case. Then we’ve asked Politico’s JOSH GERSTEIN to update us on the Department of Justice’s challenge to the state of Texas, requiring federal government permission for state voting law changes.
