The United States Conference of Mayors just passed a resolution saying that states should have their own marijuana policies without interference from the federal government. This, along with 18 states legalizing medical marijuana, is another example of changing attitudes towards the drug. The PEW Research Center for the People and the Press released a recent poll that 52 percent of the public believes the marijuana should be legalized.
