In an article in last week’s New York Times Magazine, writer ANNIE LOWREY posed a provocative question — “Do Millennials Stand a Chance in the Real World?  Victims of the financial meltdown, twenty-somethings, known as millennials, have faced a difficult job market combined with high college debt.  Studies tell us they are frequently underemployed and are way behind their parents in terms of savings.  And for the first time in U.S. history, we risk having a generation that may not to better than those who came before them.  So how are millennials doing when it comes to their financial lives?  Are they optimistic about the future?  We talk about it all with New York Times writer ANNIE LOWREY and TAMARA DRAUT, vice president of policy and research at Demos and author of Strapped: Why America’s 20- and 30-Somethings Can’t Get Ahead.
