Influenced by Appalachian mountain music, contemporary outsider folk, and Library of Congress recordings of their great uncle, sisters Laura and Meg Baird have been performing in the Philadelphia area for several years. Intertwining natural harmonies with intimate acoustic guitar and banjo playing, their new album “Lonely Town” is at once foreboding yet wistful.
