Are we too tied to our technology?

Listen

Guests: Manoush Zomorodi, Keith Hampton

How often do you check your phone, your Twitter handle, or your Facebook page?  Some people do it hundreds of times a day.  But what effect does all this connectedness have on us?  Today we’ll look at our ties to our technology and the impact it’s having on our lives.   We’ll hear from MANOUSH ZOMORODI, host and managing editor of WNYC’s New Tech City, about the new campaign “Bored and Brilliant” which is encouraging people to put down their phones and let their minds wander. And we’ll talk with KETIH HAMPTON, an associate professor of communication at Rutgers University, about  the beneficial role social media may play.  He’s the lead author of a new study from Pew Research Center that says social media can actually make some people less stressed.
