Listen 00:48:42

Guest: Former Senator George Mitchell

How does one man broker a deal end to a centuries-old conflict in Northern Ireland? Former Senator GEORGE MITCHELL accomplished the Herculean task when after years of negotiations, he crafted the Good Friday Agreement in 1998. He faced an equally daunting challenge as the Obama administration’s Special Envoy to the Arab-Israeli peace process. Mitchell says patience and perseverance are the keys to deal-making — on the world stage and in one’s personal life. In his new memoir, The Negotiator, Mitchell reflects on how the lessons he learned through life shaped his varied career in politics, law and business. He joins Marty in the studio to share his personal story.
