    [REBROADCAST] Former Philadelphia columnist STEVE LOPEZ on his book, “The Soloist: A Lost Dream, an Unlikely Friendship, and the Redemptive Power of Music.” “The Soloist” is the featured title of One Book, One Philadelphia. In it, Lopez describes his friendship with Nathaniel Ayers, a Juilliard-trained musician struggling with mental illness on the streets in Los Angeles. Lopez was a columnist for The Philadelphia Inquirer from 1986 to 1997 and now writes for The Los Angeles Times. The story is being made into a movie about to be released soon, with Robert Downey Jr. playing Lopez and Jamie Foxx playing Ayers. Listen to the mp3
