Radio Times in Review: conversations with musicians

Listen 00:49:45

Guests: Jimmy Heath, Bakithi Kumalo, Yo-Yo Ma

We’re bringing you a trio of conversations with musicians on this week’s edition of Radio Times in Review. First, we’ll listen to Marty’s discussion with jazz saxophonist JIMMY HEATH about the early days of jazz in Philadelphia. We’ll also hear from South African multi-instrumentalist and composer BAKITHI KUMALO, most noted for being Paul Simon’s longtime bass player. Lastly, we’ll hear Marty’s interview with cellist YO-YO MA. A new documentary about his work with a multi-national ensemble called “The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble” makes its Philadelphia debut next Friday.
