Jeffrey Rosen on Louis D. Brandeis and the Constitution on the campaign trail

    Listen 00:48:47

    Guests: Jeffrey Rosen

“The Jewish Jefferson” – that’s what JEFFREY ROSEN, CEO of the National Constitution Center calls the late Supreme Court Justice Louis D. Brandeis.  He’s written a book about his life and work called Louis D. Brandeis: American Prophet.  Sworn in 100 years ago, as a lawyer and judge, he was known for advancing socially progressive causes and has been namechecked by Justices Ginsberg, Breyer, and Kagan as being an inspiration for their time on the bench.  Marty and Jeffrey will also discuss the rise in popularity of pocket Constitutions following Khizr Khan’s speech at the Democratic National Convention, and the questions surrounding the constitutionality of proposals laid out by the candidates for President.
