It’s that time of year: Watch the Perseid Meteor showers

A treat for star gazers this week as the Perseid meteor showers come into view. What is a meteor anyway? And what makes it shower?  You can think of the shower as a small stream.  As the earth passes through the stream we get bombarded by  meteors.  The best time to view a meteor shower is between midnight and sunrise as the earth is turning into the stream. Keep your eyes peeled for bright streaks of light zipping across the sky quickly.  All this and more on this week’s Sky Talk.[audio: st20100809.mp3]
