Iraq veteran Phil Klay on his new book Redeployment
ListenHour 1
Guest: Phil Klay
Iraq veteran PHIL KLAY wants the readers of his new book Redeployment to really understand the toll war takes on those who fight. The narrators of his twelve short stories—those who served in Afghanistan and Iraq — face brutality, bravery, remorse, isolation, friendship and life on the edge. It’s how they get through their experiences and how they cope when they get home that Klay explores with depth and realism. Phil Klay served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Iraq’s Anbar Province from January 2007 to February 2008 as a Public Affairs officer. He joins Marty in the studio this morning.
