How women in the U.S. Senate are shaking things up

    Listen

An historic number of women are now serving in the U.S. Senate — 16 Democrats and four Republicans — and according to many political observers they have become an important force on Capitol Hill. In a recent article in National Journal, JILL LAWRENCE outlines their achievements and the ways they have been collaborating on the most important issues facing the nation. She joins us from Washington to talk about what this interesting group of legislators and what they bring to the table.  We’ll also hear from KIRSTEN KUKOWSKI, press secretary at the Republican National Committee, about their new initiative to get more women into office.  It’s called “Women on the Right Unite.”
