Obamacare in Delaware

The political back and forth over the implementation of Obamacare continues, but Delaware officials say they are moving ahead with implementation in the midst of the political noise. Starting Tuesday, uninsiured people can buy coverage through Delaware’s online shopping marketplace. The federal government will operate the site, but Delaware is behind a state-level marketing and communications campaign to nudge people to sign up. Brandywine Women’s Health Associates is one of four community groups hiring marketplace guides to get the word out.

Market Street in Wilmington has undergone many transformations over the decades. The latest change involves new retail shops and restaurants. The goal is to take advantage of an increase in foot traffic. At the center of that traffic is the Delaware College of Art and Design. A number of its projects are finally coming full circle while others are still taking shape.

UD in the 21st Century

The university of Delaware is experiencing a renaissance, with tons of new construction on campus, but also in it’s classrooms, as well as how it approaches teaching. President Patrick Harker says the changes reflect the future of education, and UD is leading from the front.

Delaware Makers

Delaware Makers is the title we’ve given to a segment dedicated to women who have made an impact on their community. Lisa Goodman has a love not only for her family and the legal work she does, but but also a passion for social justice. That’s why we think she is a Delaware Maker.

First Experience: Timeless music

Beautiful music is timeless. A timeless piece from Mozart or Beethoven is often left to the interpretation of the musician. This is not the case for the Serafin String Quartet. They are the ensemble in residence at the University of Delaware. Jennifer Higdon is a Grammy and Pulitzer Prize winning composer. She set the tone for this beautiful First Experience.
