Dr. J: The Autobiography

Listen

Guest: Julius Erving

Ask any Philadelphia sports fan about the Sixer’s four game sweep of the Lakers to win the 1982-1983 NBA championship and just one name comes to mind – Julius Erving. Best known as Dr. J, this basketball legend is one of the most decorated, influential, and revered players in professional sports history.  Perhaps his contribution to the game was best described by Magic Johnson when he said, “When greatness meets class, that’s what God created in Dr. J.”  In his new book Dr. J: The Autobiography, Erving details his triumphs and lays bare his struggles off the court, including the tragic death of his son and the end of several frayed relationships.  He joins Marty in the studio to talk about his career, life, legacy and thoughts on how basketball has evolved.
