Center City Building collapse; Joshua Johnson on 1A

Listen 00:49:55

Guests: Nancy Winkler, Joshua Johnson

The collapse of the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Philadelphia in 2013 was a shocking tragedy that killed seven people and injured 12.  It also led to a lawsuit and call for reform of the city’s License and Inspection department.  The settlement in the civil trial last week led to the largest payment in the city’s history.  NANCY WINKLER’s daughter was killed in the collapse.  Winkler joins us to discuss the trial, the loss of her daughter, and her efforts pressing for tougher building regulations.  Then, Marty talks with JOSHUA JOHNSON, host of the new program 1A.  It’s a live public affairs talk show that debuts on WHYY on Wednesday at 11:00.
